At first, because perhaps I am a bit of an amateur, it sounds a bit too advanced compared to Tri Repetae, Amber and Incunabula. I have given it a couple of goes, and it actually seems alright. (Soon, I'll probably say it is really good). Acroyear2 is perhaps the only dodgy one here, the fractal blips and clicks seem to get on my nerves compared to the other ones, such as Vose In and Melve. I think Under BOAC is the best one here, and 777, Rae, Corc and Drane2 are good as well. I think Arch Carrier sounds like a deconstructed version of 'Gangsta Paradise', but thats good too. The merit of this album is derived mainly from Booth and Brown's ability to completely deconstruct any sound, and then rearrange it however they see fit. It seems also amazing that they can use any sound, like till draws opening, or wood being scratched, to fit into each track. Clearly hard on the amateur ears at first, more listening credits with accuracy and respect for each track. I would really not recommend this as a first album by Autechre, though, try Amber instead - one of teh best albums I have. Back to Chris Clark/Brothomstates/Aphex Twin and the rest... A truly remarkable achievement to a style and skill of music that has yet to be acknowledged.
