This review is from: Metal Gear Solid 4: 25th Anniversary Edition (PS3) (Video Game)
As this is more of a rant then a review i will not evaluate the game much apart from saying "Utterly brilliant" as i do not own this release i was intrigued it was being released as "25th Anniversary Edition" now if anybody's a long term fan of the series you know how much of a surprise it was hearing the announcements at the 2012 Penny Arcade Expo on the 25th Anniversary of Metal Gear Solid, revealing a Metal Gear Solid movie, Metal Gear Solid Social Ops and Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes and umm... *cough* The Phantom Pain..... later on, but only to find out that is the same release as the original was a little disappointing, apart from having all update's, trophy support, full game install feature and the removed Metal Gear Online mode, all this release has to offer is new artwork, which is nice but i much prefer the original Shinkawa artwork found on the original PAL release, and a poster featuring the same artwork as the front of the game case, that's it, however it has it's up sides, without doubt this is one of the greatest experiences you'll find on you're Playstation 3 system and most notably the price, even a day before this release, the original game had the pre-owned price the same as this release, so a fantastic price for a fantastic game, if you have never played MGS4 i could not recommend this enough, if how ever you still own you're 2008 release of MGS4 there is no point in buying this release unless for a replacement copy

I wish you would amend your review score because this is currently the only review for the game and will deter potential buyers. I understand the original release is better but that doesn't mean this product is worth 2 stars. Don't you think?

Theres only one install? as in i dont have to do it 4 friggen times? Thats awesome. It means I can now pick and chose which chapter i load up without having to constantly re-install! One of my only gripes about the origional release. :)

In what possible way does this game deserve 2 stars? If it was £50 and all it contained was the few additions you mention I could understand, but given the quality of the game, and the overall improvements featured, I would've said at least 4 stars would be fair, with perhaps a caveat regarding existing owners.
A reasonable review, with an unreasonable score.

Mr. C. J. P. Keane says:
Well....anyone who liked the HD collection and doesn't yet own 4 will get this regardless. If a newcomer starts with the 4th game then that's a pretty stupid place to start. In fact 4 would probably deter them from going back to play the HD collection because it has the longest cutscenes of them all and isn't very friendly to newcomers with all of its references and techno-babble.
GOTP is my 3rd least favourite entry after the two PSP games so I'm a little skeptic about the quality of the upcoming Zeroes and Rising games. Especially the latter.

As the game itself stands, 5 stars, it's a fantastic game, this release however is disappointing

As a long term fan of MGS and knowing of this upcoming release, i was excited but finding it's the exactly the same as the first release just including all updates for the game and trophy support, new artwork and a poster, it was a little disappointing in terms of extra content, the game how ever is undoubtedly one of the best epics on the system, it was a review about the release not the game itself

Yes, officially release as the trophy support update released mid last year, this release had the update on disc while the first release you will have to install it to you're hard drive as like all the other updates

Micheal it was a review of the release not the game,
