3.0 out of 5 stars Wish amazon had paid tax on the profit they made on this sale, 8 Dec. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: What If?: Writing Exercises for Fiction Writers (Paperback)
Product arrived on time and as described but I wish amazon had paid their tax on the profit they made in selling me it. They pay tax to the US government on the products they sell there. They delivered this to a UK address. Why did they not pay the tax due - that pays for the schools and hospitals their employees use, the roads and legal systems they depend on. The content of this review is wrong. These reviews are on the product to enable customers to make an informed decision. NOT to review the politics of the company. I have used Amazon for years. Whatever they do regarding their political stance on their income tax arrangments, has nothing to do with me, and indeed shouldn't have. They save me many pounds on my books and DVDs. They are quick, cheap, and stock levels good. I adore Amazon, and so do others. So please do not allow government politics allow ordinary people to be in any way affected by them. It will mean higher prices for us if it does. So buy plenty and leave your stress levels low, don't worry what is happening in a financial/political world that few seem to understand. Enjoy life, and what you buy cheaply from Amazon.

You have made multiple purchases from Amazon based on your reviews but you disagree with Amazon's tax policies? Makes you look like a hypocrite. Amazon have multiple locations in the UK and pay for the wages for UK employees. Why single out Amazon? The likes of eBay, Facebook, Google, Starbucks and Apple pay minimum corporate tax - do you still continue to use these companies and their websites? I thought as much.

I can see where Catherine is coming from with ideas of justice and so on but this is not a just world at all and the people running our government who are millionaires often use every loophole their accountants can think up to avoid paying tax no doubt. We get nothing from the politicians but more ways to tax us and invade our privacy it seems but at least Amazon help us get cheap books, CDs and so on! Tax avoidance as criminal is not valid in a society where all the rich are at it and most big corporations too, probably banks included. Is this the 'lesser of a few evils' argument I am using I wonder. Maybe only the poor and smaller companies pay any tax at all. The billions the government sucks out of wagepackets for tax is far in excess of what would pay for roads, police and so on and it seems that millions can be paid in foreign aid and on MPs vast wages and perks. I wont go on.

You are being asked to write a review of the BOOK!!!! NOT on Amazon as a company. If you don't like the way they operate JOG ON and spend your money elsewhere. While your at it stop using Google and the countless other companies that don't pay tax in this country and write to YOUR M.P. with your thoughts and rather fuzzy logic as that would be the correct forum for your opinions. That's called democracy, perhaps you would prefer living in a communist state, where btw you would be unable to express your opinions and would probably be arrested and never heard from again.

And the BOOK, Catherine? Did you even read the book? Nice rant, wrong place.

"Like this comment"????

THIS IS THE PRODUCT REVIEW SECTION. NOT FACEBOOK.

You have done the author of this book a great disservice.

Take your crusade elsewhere. This is idiotic nonsense.
