Enjoyed the original some 20 years ago and bought this revised edition because of the 200 plus additional pages.
To be honest I am unable to specify what is new here, other than the obvious addition of the Morrissey/Marr v Joyce/Rourke court case, but I would still recommend this book highly even if you own the first edition.
It is a beautifully written and detailed account of the greatest band and songwriting partnership this island has ever produced. The book has its critics, not least Morrissey and Marr themselves, but I think Rogan has served the bands history well and has set the benchmark, perhaps unachievably high, for future biographers.
Remarkably, the book receives a lot of criticism for the lengthy and minutiae detail within. However, this is precisely the kind of content which would send me rushing to `Waterstones' on the no 32 bus to make a purchase!
This book alongside Goddard's `Songs.... & Mozipedia, and Mark Simpson's astute and witty `Saint Morrissey' are really all the discerning Smiths fan needs on his or her bookcase.
