The hdmi connected for Kindle Fire arrived earlier than estimated on the order confirmation. I simply plugged it into my Kindle and tv and the Kindle image appeared on my tv screen. It works best with apps in landscape mode. Apps which only provide portrait mode squash themselves to fit in the middle of the tv screen, so look less impressive. I found that I preferred to look at my Kindle screen in most cases. The hdmi connector is best used when sharing the Kindle as in two handed games or displaying videos from the Kindle not directly available to the tv. However, you still have to use the Kindle as controller, so tend to look at the Kindle screen while using controls/keyboard. Also the hdmi cable routes music on my Kindle to the tv, which is connected to a 5.1 speaker system. In summary, great for sharing or showing off Kindle content. Otherwise, rather specialized usage.
