This review is from: A Great Deception: The Ruling Lamas' Policies (Paperback)
When the Dalai Lama gave instructions for Buddhists to stop saying the Dorje Shugden prayer, this did not make any sense to me. When he gave orders for actions to be taken to harm sincere practitioners who engaged in this practice to be banned and ostracized from their communities, it was atrocious. I am used to my religious freedom and did not like that, so I bought the book. The Great Deception is a practical and historical look at past events leading up to the current politics, including the role the Dalai Lama plays. It helps to understand that the Dalai Lama is a political figure, not a spiritual leader. Now I know why the Dalai Lama's actions were so wrong. Politics and religion do not mix together very well. The book is well worth reading.
