5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely timeless classic., 24 July 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Humber Imports Grade A Teak Classic 1.8m Windsor Park Bench (Garden & Outdoors)
WE'VE HAD THIS BENCH NOW FOR ABOUT FIVE WEEKS, LESS THAN A WEEK AFTER ORDERING. I MEANT TO OIL IT, BUT HAVEN'T GOT ROUND TO IT, SO IT HAS BEEN OUT IN THE RELENTLESS RAINS OF THE PAST FORTNIGHT. IT HAS NOT SHOWN ANY SIGN OF WARPING OR SPLITTING,BUT HAS DEVELOPED THE CUSTOMARY SILVERED APPEARANCE, WHICH IS REALLY ATTRACTIVE. I AM NOW CONSIDERING THAT I MIGHT NOW BOTHER WITH THE OIL, AS THE QUALITY IS SUCH THAT IT CAN BE LEFT NATURAL.

THERE ARE ONLY TWO BRASS SCREWS, SO THERE IS NOTHING TO RUST. THE LIMITED AMOUNT OF ASSEMBLY (BACK & SEAT TO SIDES & CROSS-MEMBER BETWEEN)IS BY THE USE OF DOWELLS. MY HUSBAND ADDED A SPOT OF WOOD GLUE FOR EXTRA STRENGTH, ALTHOUGH NOT STRICTLY NECESSARY.

SO WE HAVE A STURDY, BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF QUALITY FURNITURE THAT I AM CONFIDENT WILL LAST US FOR MANY YEARS.

Sorry, but I didn't read your review because you were SHOUTING AT ME IN CAPITAL LETTERS. Word to the wise: this is generally accepted as not the done thing when posting online anywhere. It's hard to read and looks rather off-putting. I mention this only because I'm sure that after taking the trouble to write a review I'm sure you didn't intend for people to skim past it as I did. I hope I haven't offended you by my comment but I thought you might be glad to know of the convention of not using capital letters if you weren't aware of it already. Having made the point I'll now go back and read your review, capital letters or not!

Normadaz says:
I do apologise for the caps. I certainly didn't mean to shout. I can now verify, however, that the bench is still in great condition five years down the line.

Glad you weren't offended. Not everyone is aware of these new-fangled conventions so just wanted to let you know about this one in case you weren't aware. And I'm really glad to have the extra info about how well the bench has lasted. Good to know. It's so hard to make a judgement about such things when buying at a distance. Thank you.
