Its a kettle,

This review is from: Philips HD4644/00 Energy Efficient Kettle, 3000 Watt, 1.7 Litre - White (Kitchen & Home)
Promoted as an "eco" energy efficient kettle, as far as I can tell this consists of marking the water level graduations in "cups" although if this matches the size of your own mugs only experience will tell. You may be better off using a marker pen on your current kettle.
Other than that it functions well as a kettle; the switch, at the bottom of the handle has a positive action and an indicator light. Seems unaffected if switched on after the kettle has recently boiled. Power lead length can be adjusted by winding into the base. Has a plate type element rather than a coil. Seems quiet and rapid (compared to our previous kettle - the excellent Russell Hobbs "Millennium" kettle which lasted at least 10 years before developing a leak). Lid is easy to open and the spout pours without dripping.
Update September 2013 (3 years, 8 months after purchase): Kettle now leaks, indicator light flickers. Will be replaced soon.
