I think this book, & the first in the series Image Makers, Image Takers: The Essential Guide to Photography by Those in the Know are fascinating insights into creative personalities, processes & the commercial contexts in which they sit. The interviews work splendidly as standalone pieces, but the whole also represents more than the sum of the parts. Reading through the book, one compares different interviewee responses to the same questions & discovers a multitude of motivations, approaches & philosophies -- this provides an intimate insight into the personalities themselves, but also produces an engrossing overall analysis of fashion & photography today. The interview questions are often disarmingly simple, but elicit rich & candid responses. This makes the books both highly readable, & inclusive -- for the uninitiated it asks the essential "for dummies" introductory questions, while for those in the know it contains abundant discerning & cultivated comment. It's a lovely overall format that is accessible & substantial...& hugely enjoyable.
