Swapped out my excellent Zoom X7N (also reviewed) for this - my brother's now got the Zoom as his old Linksys died recently. This Netgear router was bought on the 1st October 13 so is the V2 version which is far superior to the V1. Bear in mind that a lot of the earlier reviews here relate to the V1, which has different hardware internally. Have to say that we've been running this for a week solid and no issues with ADSL or wireless at all. The concurrent 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless is impressive; those devices that can use 5GHz fly (mostly smartphones at this time). Just set both bands up and let the devices use whichever band automatically.
Setting up the ADSL modem was dead easy as it automatically found the PlusNet settings (apart from the log-in info, of course). I updated the firmware too, which was painless although I had to download the later bin file from the Netgear website as the router didn't find an update. Bit dumb.
I also use an IP Camera (wireless) and have to use my Static IP (not paying for any DDNS thanks) and Port Forwarding. Easy to set up once you get the hang of it.
The stand unclips very easily and although the router looks a little less "obvious" when lay down, the top gets quite warm and the wireless range suffers very slightly. So, upright, and cool, it remains.
Not used the USB ports yet, but will soon. Blocking websites from the kids is dead easy and very effective.
Only slight pain is the router setting pages are slow to load. But then again, how often do you need to go back in to them?
All told, extremely happy with this well made and easy to use router - quality.
