I had high hopes for this after the last album, and it is not bad in places (some great melodies) but there are several major drawbacks. One: it is let down throughout by the appalling vocals - e.g the vocal mannerisms that ruin good tracks like Spectre of Love - by which I mean the exaggerated, drawn out mid-atlantic drawl in a mock-scary voice which appears on this and other tracks. (Paul Roberts, come back, all is forgiven). The other drawback is that some of the tracks are, as Tommy Sheridan would say, pish. "I Hate You"??? Oh grow up for gods sake, JJ. I have been following the Stranglers for 30 years and it pains me to listen to this stuff. This is a band with no point any more, hacking out karaoke versions of their past glories. There hasn't been a point to the band, sadly, since before "10". JJ says another album is due in 2010. Let's hope they all grow up before then, but on current form, it seems unlikely.

Yes, it was! My point being that Baz Warne's weak and mannered vocals are as bar as PR's.
