Boasting a wealth of the biggest stars of wrestling from the current WWE era and the previous WWF version of the sports entertainment 'business', WWE Legends of Wrestlemania is only likely to tempt hardcore wrestling fans eager to experience the soap opera slap-fest gameplay this kind of release is built upon.
To be fair, it's certainly a lot of fun to step into the iconic boots of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, The Rock et al. And there are thrills to be had in adopting their respective traits and signature moves, leaping from the top rope, using handy props as weapons, and applying all manner of move combos to slam helpless chumps into the canvas. Indeed, strutting like a genuine sports entertainment peacock will definitely raise a smile in many of those that cross the game's path.
However, those gamers looking for a ring-based brawler with substance would be well advised to head towards Fight Night Round 4 or the latest UFC offering (also from THQ) -- both of which are far superior in terms of core aspects such as physics, collision detection, animation, authenticity and overall atmosphere.
As a shallow distraction, Legends of Wrestlemania will fill the hole on your gaming calendar for a short period of time, but its somewhat lacklustre presentation and limited longevity soon combine to reveal its failings.
Fun for a while, but not something you'll return to very often if WWE isn't your televised religion.
