Too clever by half,
This review is from: Park And Ride: Adventures in Suburbia (Hardcover)
Reads as though a number of magazine features have been thrown together under the collective title of suburbia. Miranda Sawyer can write and there are some sharply drawn, acidic observations.
However she fails to show any interest in the people she has observed and comes across as a fairly self satisfied, unpleasant individual, the chapter on a visit to her Grandmother is particulalry distasteful.
Above all this book lacks humour and empathy with people who choose to live their lives in a different way to Sawyer and other sophisticated urbanites.
