5.0 out of 5 stars Pure class!!!, 3 Nov. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Doom 3 - BFG Edition (PS3) (Video Game)
I read another review where the reviewer said they would probably be one of the only ones to review who had played the original. Not a chance!
Sounds a bit silly to say it out loud, but I pre-ordered this & couldn't wait for it to arrive. Like a kid waiting for Christmas! What sold me really was the fact you get Doom & Doom II with it. Pure nostalgia! And what fun. Forget how bad the graphics look now, it's a fantastic experience to be able to play those two games again, and on a PS3 too. I was in heaven!
All those memories came flooding back - playing in DOS 'cause it didn't run in Windows, manipulating my config.sys & autoexec.bat to get a better experience, having to go out and buy another 4 megs of RAM so I could play Doom II (yes, that's four megabytes!)
I also used to write levels - they were called wads, can't recall why - and there were few things more fun in those days than handing my wads over to another Doom god & watching them play them.
I had endless fun with this game series - Doom was the original and the best FPS. And now the fun continues...

You've really taken me back. I'm playing this again and loving it. I'm really getting a lot more fun from Doom 1 & 2 than from 3!
