You can tell the boys have been to the US and you can tell they've worked with Josh Homme. The good thing about the first two albums was that they were unique, authentic - the boys had their own sound, great lyrics and a whole load of energy. In this they sound different, a little bit of pretending to be who they are not. Don't get me wrong I love Josh Homme and QOTSA but the Arctic Monkeys should stick to what they do best - energy driven, electrifying pumped up songs about real life and where they come from. Again, don't get me wrong there are some great tracks - 2 and 7 but overall not as good as the old stuff.
