Having heard Naomi Alderman speaking about this book on the radio recently, I thought I would give it a try and I have to say that I found it very interesting. My familiarity with Jewish rituals is limited and this novel filled a number of gaps in my knowledge without being 'preachy'. The characters and their attitudes were well portrayed and the twists and turns of the storyline held my attention all the way through. The lighter and darker moments were well balanced and the ending brought the story to a satisfactory conclusion in my view. I would recommend this book to anyone willing to keep an open mind on religion, morality and sexuality.
