A must have item for Vegans!!,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Engevita Yeast Flakes 125 g (Pack of 6) (Grocery)
I absolutely adore this product.
It has been an total life saver since I went Vegan - it is hugely versatile, tastes incredibly delicious (the "cheese" sauce I've made with this is BETTER than any "real" cheese sauce I have had in my life!), its very good for you (its packed with vit. b12), and above all its cheap!
I have been using it almost everyday, and I am still (just about) on my first container.
Even my non Vegan friends and family love it, and have been asking where they can get some - it is just THAT GOOD!

Hello, do you think I'd be overdoing it if I sprinkled on a meal 50% of the pot?

Well, I'd say it's down to personal taste (and what you can afford!).
Personally, I tend to use portions of 10g to 20g or so (about 1/12 - 1/6 of a tub), but thats mainly because I can only afford to buy these once every few months, and I need to make them last. I would probably happily use half a tub if I could!
One tip I do have is that I have started using the Enriched version of the flakes:
Engevita Savoury Yeast Condiment With B12 125 g (Pack of 3)
as I personally find them to have a stronger flavour, so less goes further (though it does sometimes make it harder to resist ;)
Hope this is of help.

Im just switching the other way due to the high folate content of the one with added b12 (breast cancer risk). But its interesting to know there is a difference in flavour (I did note that the serving size was much less in the added B12 one 10g as opposed to 30g)

Please be aware that this version of Engevita does NOT contain vitamin B12. There is a vitamin B12-fortified version (the blue tub) but that is also ridiculously high in folic acid (supplemental folic acid is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer).
I'd suggest getting this version (the brown tub) and taking a good-quality B12 every day or a few times a week. And folate is easily obtained from green leafy veg, which we all should be eating more of anyway :)
