2.0 out of 5 stars Very hard to start, 28 May 2010
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: NEW TRUESHOPPING® PROFESSIONAL PETROL GRASS STRIMMER BRUSHCUTTER POWERFUL HEAVY DUTY MODEL 2-STROKE 43CC 1.25KW 1.7HP (Misc.)
I received one of these machines from Trueshopping. It was straightforward to assemble and very sturdily made. However when I came to try to start it the starting cord came out about 10cm and then jammed. I rang Trueshopping who were very helpful and sent out a replacement the next working day. When I assembled it I got exactly the same problem. A very strong man tried to start it for me and also could not get the pull cord to come out of its housing. I rang Trueshopping and they said they would collect it and check to see what the problem was and send me one from the warehouse which had been checked as it appeared to be a fault with the batch.
When a replacement had not come after several days I rang them and they said one would be with me five days later. A week later I rang and they said they are out of stock and didn't know when they would be in and have refunded my money. So, 24 days after the initial order I have no machine and am having to to start again with ordering ..

Thank you J. Aidley "Jess" for your comment. I was going to buy one of those, but having read your comment and the hassle you had to go through only to get back to your starting point after 24 days of wasted time, made me realise how useless internet shopping can, sometimes be. The moral of this story is 'BRING BACK THE OLD DAYS OF THE 1970s when Hardware Stores in the UK were run by competent people who dealt with problems on the shop floor, there and then, and money would be refunded if problems could not be overcome. Exactly the same happened to my machine but about 12 months into using it. The whole housing for the pull cord eventually broke away as it is held on with plastic eyes. Poor build quality but when it was working it was good.
