The Queen's Diamonds - well, it left me cold,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Queen's Diamonds (Hardcover)
About fifteen years ago, an author named Leslie Field wrote a book about the personal and Crown jewels of Queen Elizabeth II. It was a great book - it may need some updating now, but for the time it was really excellent; the research was spot on; the photographs were lovely and the captions were very informative and well-written. This book, THE QUEEN'S DIAMONDS - I'm just not getting the same warm feelings. It's very professional, of course, and the photographs are stunning (who can hate looking at enlarged diamond jewelry?) But for me it just lacks the warmth and charm of the older book by Ms. Field. Somehow I felt that I learned more from Ms. Field's book than from this one. (I swear that I'm not a relation of hers.)
Maybe my feelings are because it's strictly about the diamonds, and not the other stones? But for whatever reason, this left me cold.
