This review is from: Mathematics for Economics and Business (Paperback)
I know this is going to sound like an old-person rant, but any book that includes an emphasized statement ALGEBRA IS BORING deserves to burn in satanic hell. While I appreciate people writing books for 'Economics and Business', there should clearly be a 'for Idiots' in there somewhere.
This book covers the trivial basics that you should have learned at GCSE level. The fact that poorer UK universities admit students to study Economics without an A-level is shameful, and it is this situation that has led to books like this: books that take a lot of time explaining how to add fractions, multiply negative numbers and solve quadratic equations.
But what can I say? Educational standards are declining, so a book which is suitable for school students is now being used as a university text. Nothing to celebrate there, really.
