Customer Review

on 11 February 2012
Had heard about this book from my grandmother in 1960 never got round to read although my sisters did and have spoken about it over the years. Was very popular book then and I can see why.Gripping from start to finish, very Victorian and leaves you analysing what life was like in 1800's. The depth of jealousy among women and how it can affect life is much part of this story and the delicate fashion of how husbands treated their wives. Higly recommend this book not only for its story but for an historic look at what upper class families were in those days. Dont want to give too much away but its a must read. The author, Ellen Wood, was away ahead of her time.
