Having looked into the author a little online it seems that there are some doubts about the authenticity of this tale from people claiming to know her, some saying that the whole affair is fabricated, some that she entered into a life of prostitution willingly and some quite disparaging remarks. When I read the book I didn't doubt that this was a true story, though having been abused and dependent on a cocktail of drugs for such a long time it is probably inevitable that some parts of this story are not in chronological order and indeed it is likely that some of the events actually happened to other girls or were rumours that the author can no longer separate from her own memories. This is certainly a grim piece of writing, though of course it could hardly be anything else. Sarah Forsythe/Sara Lee still lives a troubled life and was convicted for spitting in a nurse mouth when a mix up over a methadone prescription turned aggressive, despite knowing she had Hep C. Clearly the woman has problems, be this story true or not. Quite frankly having read the book I really hope that it is all a huge lie, but I think that poor women the world over will always suffer similar situations as the darker side of human nature will always be present.
