PLEASE BE LIKE DEAD SPACE....PLEASE BE LIKE DEAD SPACE....PLEASE BE LIKE DEAD SPACE....INSERT DISK INTO 360....PLEASE BE LIKE DEAD SPACE....GAME LOADING....PLEASE BE LIKE DEAD SPACE....MAIN MENU....LOOKS BASIC....MAYBE THEY SPENT ALL THE TIME DEVELOPING THE GAME PLAY?.... PLEASE BE LIKE DEAD SPACE....START CAMPAIGN....GAME LOADING....PLEASE BE LIKE DEAD SPACE....CHAPTER 1....OH NO. ITS NOTHING LIKE DEAD SPACE....

Unfortunately I have to agree with the other dissapointed reviewers here and say this game is a bit of a let down. I make the reference to Dead Space because Dead Space has set the standard of horror, and especially horror set in space, should be. Unfortunately Colonial Marines is no where near the same standard.

I remember the trailers over a year ago and at the time got very excited at the prospect of an Aliens game that would finally deliver. Unfortunately a huge opportunity has been missed here and the developers have churned out an average game that would have been acceptable on the PS2 or original xbox but definately not final stage 360.

The game graphics are the main problem. Everything has that smooth texture we were used to seeing with PS2 and xbox original games. Nothing has any real texture or real life grittiness. This for me is an immediate problem as part of the joy of gaming is how good the game looks. Unfortunately Colonial Marines is smooth and boring. Because of this the Aliens themselves lose their fear factor as they simply look like cartoons.

The story is ok and the voice acting is ok. The cinematic cut scenes however are terrible. In no way do you feel you are playing anything special. Far from it.
