i cant really reveiw this album without constantly gushing about how good it is. i really am lost for words about how good it is. the songs range from laid back easy jazz and funk such as mello, and muse 2 the pharoh to more funky jazz such as 1+1=3 to amazing peices of gospel composition such as last december. Although a lot of people have critisied the spoken sections between the songs they do make very interesting listening. the overall feeling of the album is of some gigantic rock opera as the songs and spoken sections are cleverly tied together to make a coherent story. i honestly cant pick a song that is below a five star rating! but i can however pick my two favorites- last december is a soaring, uplifting, gospel ballad which makes the hairs on the back of neck stand up and a chill run down my spine and secondly (perhaps my favorite) is "love like a rose" a breathy ballad spiced with jungle rythms and electronic doodlings really quite breathtaking. this is a unique album and may i be as bold to say possible the purple ones best work to date.
