Good, simple, elegant design, works well, and produces a good, even grind. To grind enough coffee for a strong double espresso takes around 150 rotations - a little over a minute. There's enough capacity to grind more than twice that amount in one go if you want to - perfect if you're making coffee for 1 or 2 people.
There's something very satisfying about using this machine to grind your coffee by hand - can't really explain it - you just have to try it!
Delivered very quickly from Japan, and extremely well packaged.
Points to be aware of:
1) The instructions included are in Japanese. You don't really need instructions, operation and adjustment is all fairly obvious, but if (like me) you prefer to read the manual, you can find the English instructions online. Took me a while to track them down, so here's the link: [...]
2) The handle slots into a hexagonal crank at the top, but there's nothing to stop it sliding off while you're turning it. You have apply a slight pressure downwards while turning, or it can slip off. Don't let this put you off - you quickly get used to it, and once you get the hang of it, it's a joy to use.
