I must admit I almost didnt buy this book becasue I read some truly negative reviews. The criticised the book for being too much about the characters emotional development, in particular Alex who's teenage tantrums proved too much for some readers,
But I thought it was good! I found the action pacy and the plot twist interesting and well thought out. At the end all the looseends are tied up and the finale is big enough to warrant the end of the series. (I am trying not to put in spoilers)
The only thing I will say, and I mean in no way to deter you from reading the book, is the Mike Shevdon is quite clearly a man, through no fault of his own and his portrayal of Alex is extremely childish. Any child that goes through trauma grows up fast, and I found it amusing that Alex, even though she has killed people, was tortured and nearly caused the end of the world still feels the need to throw tantrums and moan about watching the baby. Its the only character that I thought could benefit with a little more thought.
