Nights in White Samsung..........,
This review is from: Samsung Galaxy S 8GB Wi-Fi MP3 Player with 4.2 inch Display - White (Electronics)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
Six Months Later.......an update
I have to re-grade this player....maybe I was just unlucky...but the player has now died....I am very disappointed with this now...
The player now refuses to start...I thought maybe the battery had died...so replaced this..but to no avail.
I added a 32GB micro sd card a few months ago..and the player seemed to develop a problem reading this consistantly. The supplied audio software also seemed to find it harder to pick up my music files. I ended up with three apps ....all with varying degrees of success. It became an irritation..having to take the back off the player, then the battery..then re-seat the sd card.
I'm thinking ipod again...but a nice big hard drive one!!
Below is my original review...
I have had a classic i pod for a few years...so this device came as a bit of a shock for my listening habits
It is very light...the screen is big...it plays back video in amazing quality.
The sound is excellent..and you can do the usual adjustments to suit your listening experience...fo me...loud ..and bass high up!!
The headphones took a bit of getting used to in the ear..I mus have funny shaped ears...this type of headphone always seem to fall out.
Thye do come with a volume control on the lead..which is more than you usually get.
The samsung is a full on singing and dancing piece of kit....has it all except the phone..!
Wifi connection is good..in fact better than my HTC phone for picking up the wifi.
The music playing software...which is the main point of this gadget for me...is a little confusing...you are not sure when you have turned it off....and the random play function is hidden away a bit..you have to be playing a track before the option appears..you can't select this from a menu
Plenty of room on screen for surfing on the go.
So...my issues..and only minor ones I guess...are
Th device does take a while to start...unlike ipod...which sems to start pretty much straight after the play buton is pressed
and....as it uses flash storage ...it has to scan the sd card each time you start it.....so...this adds to time.
Realistically..you have to upgrade card from 8GB to 32GB...otherwise you might find youself copying different media over to it every couple of days...depending on you consumption rate.
My other concern is protection of device..a big scren hat seems quite fragile...why don't the manufacturers included a hard case or something with these...you have to search out a case that is the right size...and usually comes from a supplier in Hong Kong!!
Overall..very pleased with this..and on te strength of this..I would pobably go for a Samsung Tablet in the future over an apple ipad if performance is as good on the larger device.
Have not downloaded any apps as yet..other than ebay app !!! but the main purpose for me is music and video playback

If you do not like the stock player, try Mixzing or PowerAmp, they are great
