This review is from: Gumbo Ya Ya (Audio CD)
Some great early Richard recordings (according to drummer Earl Palmer he was fantastic to work with) the CD nudges the sixties and the early boogie based raunchy music from the fifties is being replaced by pop/funk and for me the music loses its excitement.Frankie Ford and Jimmy Clanton's recordings illustrate how 'the market' was searching more for white artists with a softer approach and the wild days of Jessie Hill were truly numbered.
