Customer Review

on 27 August 2009
I really can't fault this book. After a trip to Japan I'm totally hooked on the food and culture.

I bought this as a present for my boyfriend, in the vain hope that he would create wonderful Japanese meals for me. No joy on that front, but the book is superb.

The photographs are beautiful, journalistic in style - people in street scenes and festivals and cafes. In addition the pictures of the dishes are fantastic.

The recipes cover decorative, formal food such as sushi (as you'd expect), but also home cooking recipes including stews and soups. Cafe food and desserts are also in here.

All the ingredients are explained in a glossary and there is a separate section at the back on cooking basics like Tempura batter and dipping sauce etc.

This really is a little taste of Japan and makes everything seem easy to do - I highly recommend.
