First let me put P Martin's review in it's place. This is clearly a guy who has absolutely no idea about photography and having purchased an item that he has no idea how to use has decided to rubbish the product.
I bought a Samsung NK1000 camera as an easy to carry option to my Nikon D7000 kit. I am very happy with the camera (apart from no optical viewfinder) so decided to add some useful lenses. One being this 50 -200. First impression when opening the box was very positive. The lens seems to be of high quality construction with a decent all metal bayonet to connect to the camera. better than the plastic bayonet on the kit lens. Included in the packaging were the required front and rear caps plus a basic but useful lens bag.
The one problem I found was after fitting the lens to the camera. The zoom action, particularly at the wide end of the range, is very stiff. This probably would not be a problem if attached to a full sized DSLR but when fitted to the tiny NX1000 body it is hard to hold the body steady while zooming. Once the desired framing is achieved it is quite easy to hold the camera/lens combination steady. I am not a great lover of lightweight kit as a little bit of weight is helpful in keeping camera shake to a minimum. As this camera cannot be steadied by pressing against the face (which is one reason why a proper viewfinder is useful) any little help in avoiding shake is good. The lens also has optical anti-shake which seems reasonably effective.
All the above are pointless comments unless the lens is capable of good pics. So far its use has been limited but I am very happy with the results I have achieved. Compared with similar lenses for my Nikon this is a budget priced lend and for the price it is very good. I have dropped one star simply because of the stiffness of the zoom.
