The text within the 96 pages (inc the hardback cover) is written by HARRY DOHERTY. Both Brian May and Roger Taylor's forewords are exactly that; written before the book had been started. It is their trust in Harry (Brian,"Harry is one of the good guy." Regarding music journalists). The book is chronological to a degree but is constant in its flow. I have owned the 3x vhs history of Queen but this book is much more. Each album is discussed, each of the members are discussed and the bands history and adventures are written about.
Arguably, since Pink Floyd's Immersion box sets and the inclusion of "tat" (some of the inserted stuff was of major interest, and some bits weren't), rock books now seem the feature "bonus material". Queens extras are wonderful and appreciated. Hidden away in pockets between the pages one can find many a curio. And for me some of the pictures are previously unseen.
I bought my copy from (no pun intended) from The Works for £13 without a hard outer case. I was more than happy. I am not a mega fan but do own all the studio cds, most of the dvds and lps, but only saw them live once - Sat 12th July Wembley and WWRY musical. That may give you an idea of how much I love Queen. (actually, more than that reads, but oh well). Anyhow, as I was saying, £13. So shop around and if you want the hard case make sure it is included in your purchase.
Size of the book: hardback cover 29cm x 25cm x 2.5cm. A lavish production and I cannot recommend it enough. More pictures than written text, but for me spot on.
