Customer Review

on 10 November 2013
Readers who enjoyed any books by Robin Jarvis (The Deptford Mice, The Hagwood Chronicles, The Whitby Witches etc) would probably like this new series by Emma Right. The plot tells the story of the Keepers of Reign who are little people known as Elfies. The Elfies are cursed, having lost the King's gift, and the Keepers are forced from their homes by the evil Gezuhrolle and his henchmen Whisperer, Rage and their legions of fierce Scorpents. The dangers the Elfies face to try and break the curse and rescue their abducted relatives lead us into a convoluted adventure full of unexpected twists and turns which are still unresolved for Jules Blaze, the 16 year old hero of the Elfies, by the end of book one. I was able to read this courtesy of Netgalley but although I liked the ideas in the story I felt it was less well written than works by Robin Jarvis and I feel it would be more suitable for 9 to 12 year olds than for the teen/YA reading audience.
