DO NOT, DO NOT BUY - THIS PLUG IS UNSAFE,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
I have sent Amazon the following email:-
You should be aware that a product you are presently selling is HIGHLY DANGEROUS AND LIKELY TO CAUSE INJURY.
I am referring to "Ex-Pro® Black Compact 3 PIN 1000mA USB Power Adapter Mains Charger UK wall plug for MP3 players, ipods, mobile phones, PDA's and Digital Cameras."
We have bought several of these plugs in the last twelve month, since at £3.50 they offer a considerable saving against the Apple equivalent of £15.00.
However, last night one of these plugs literally exploded with a large bang and flash. The back of the plug was shot across the room. The mains over-load switch was thrown, switching off all our mains circuits. The iPhone that the plug was charging was "fried" and is now dead. The wall plug socket is caked in soot.
It is clear that this plug is highly unsafe. Fortunerately no one was injured, but this was down to luck, nothing else.
I appreciate that the plug is sold by a third-party, but when a customer buys something that is an electrical device from Amazon, he/she expects it at the very least to be safe.
I would ask you to do the following:
(a) Immediately suspend sales of this particular plug before someone is injured or worse.
(b) Carry out a review of similar plugs that you presently have on sale to ensure they do not share the same unsafe condition.
(c) Provide us with a refund for all these plugs we have purchased from Amazon.
(d) Consider making a contribution to the cost of replacing our now "fried" iPhone.
