I'll say it quietly, I'm not a huge fan of Robert Plant. Or Led Zeppelin come to that. I know and like their music - it's impossible to have been a teen in the 70`s and 80`s and not to - without ever really loving it. But a writer like Paul Rees can still make a book like this compelling for me. That's what you get from man that really knows his subject, by which I mean music and not just Plant. You only have to look at the author's career to know he is passionate about music. Read decades-worth of interviews in Q, Kerrang or RAW if you need to be convinced (but maybe give Brum Beat a miss). Then buy this book if you want a music man's view of a music legend. You won't get the air-brushed image ordered by some PR man - just an honest, informed, well-researched and well told account.
