Good guide to wild vegetarian food.,
This review is from: Wild Food For Free (Paperback)
This book contains an introduction to foraging and a section on recipes but the main section lists edible wild foods that can be found in the British Isles.
The book is organised helpfully into chapters based on the following habitats:
Each plant or fungus (animals are not covered in this book) has 2 pages providing information on identifying features, where to look, what time of year it is available, 2 pictures, and how to cook or prepare it. Fungi also contain warnings e.g. "Can be mistaken for the poisonous..."
The pictures are really good and there is a good mixture of roots, leaves, nuts, berries and fungi. Well written and I can't think of any reason to not give it 5 stars
