This review is from: Scott - The Collection 1967-1970 (Audio CD)
The combined effect of Scott's music and poetry; and the sheer humanity inherent within these works will blow you away. It goes without saying, which is possibly why no-one else has yet hit the 5 star button. I have bought 2 from Amazon; 1 for the car as my mini doesn't have a full spec record player and I don't own mint original LP's. Hearing the instruments as they were meant to be heard is a revelation and for me, quite amazing, especially as I have heard them hundreds of times before and thought I knew every nuance. I clearly didn't. It's almost like hearing them again for the first time. The revealed clarity of the instruments which you knew were there is in itself breathtaking.
No need to be pedantic about the packaging which, incidentally, I think is great. This is about the original LP's as they were meant to be heard: no extras. Because the remastering is so brilliant, the non-inclusion of extras is, understandably, disappointing. You want that clarity of sound on all of Scott's other music of the time, but this collection does what it says on the box: no more, no less, no compromises. Frustrating, but if you are a Scott fan, you are used to that. No need to take it out on his star rating!!
It's the music that matters and whether you are a first-timer or a lifer, buy this or regret it. Seriously. A life changer.
