Customer Review

on 11 March 2013
This was one of the first CDs I bought when I started bellydancing, as it's one of the ones that comes near the top of searches for bellydance music. It's OK. It does the job if you want something to practise to. But it's fairly uninspiring, really. A lot of the tracks have a rather plodding, lifeless feel compared to other recordings of the same pieces.

There are much better compilations of bellydance music out there ideal for beginners - the 'Rough Guide' series are quite good, and there are also many recordings available by Egyptian orchestras (e.g. Cairo Orchestra & Sami Nossair Orchestra). Arabic music is full of variety and passion and can be absolutely wonderful, and I disagree with the previous commenter who said "the music was a bit 'samey' but then that is the type of music". It's not the type of music that's 'samey' - it's just this CD...
