This review is from: Garmin Nuvi 1390T 4.3" Sat Nav with UK and Europe Maps (Electronics)
This is my third Sat Nav device. It is the easiest and simplest one so far. We used it straight out of the box in a hire car in France and had no problems. The speech synthesis pronounces French place names phonetically in a posh English voice, which is a bit disconcerting, but the map display is very clear, and the speed & Limit display, which goes red if you exceed the limit, coupled with a beep if there may be speed cameras around is useful.
I find the Google mapping & navigation on my smartphone is more precise and accurate than the maps on the Garmin, but the much clearer interface, speed display, camera database, better speech synthesis, and the fact that all maps are stored on the device, saving on an expensive data connection, makes the Garmin best overall.
On a recent trip to London, the beeping to warn of speed cameras became rather intrusive because Big Brother seems to have taken over the entire area and there are way too many cameras, but I believe there is a setting to elimintate the beeps if they become too troublesome.
All in all this is a very useful and user friendly sat nav.
