One can't get any more sublime than listening to June Christy singing just with a trio, a guitar, a bass and a flute or a piano. I've always loved June Christy because she sings the most unusual songs with difficult melodies. She will always be remembered as an artist who loves singing strings-laden, romantic standards from the great American Songbook and sophisticated, esoteric songs (check out her Christmas album as an example). I love most tracks with very simplified arrangements on here but the haunting version "Spring is here" and the most heartfelt - "Fly Me to the Moon" and "Suddenly it's spring" (J. van Heusen & J. Burke) are my favourites!!
However, I only gave this CD 4 stars because of the two bonus tracks at the end of the record don't fit well with the rest of the album, and they distract it away from the original concept idea of the album.
If you like this album, I have two other recommendations: Johnny Mathis - Open Fire and Two Guitars Morgana King - Tender Moments
