Really easy reading,
This review is from: The Piano Teacher (Paperback)
I finally got around to reading The Piano Teacher and finished it earlier today. I'm really in two minds about whether I enjoyed it or not. I found the first few chapters very slow moving and was really struggling to engage with the characters. Once past that beginning though, I really did begin to enjoy the story.
I much preferred the story of Trudy and Will during the war years over the story of the actual piano teacher herself; Claire. I thought Claire was pretty spineless and one dimensional, which was a shame, as most of the other characters were well drawn.
It's an easy read, and gives some insight into what happened in Hong Kong during the war years.
