An Absolute Disgrace!!,
This review is from: Area 51: An Uncensored History of America's Top Secret Military Base (Hardcover)
I read this book thinking that it would be a sensible and objective history of Area 51 and the style of writing which was both engaging and intelligent led me to believe that this was going to be the case.
However, as I moved further and further through the book I became increasingly unsettled by the number of inaccuracies I found. For example, at one point the author states that a security guard at Area 51 had achieved remarkable results in his exams by coming in the top 90%! Should that not have been the top 10% as let's face it most people who sit exams come in the top 90%. Did nobody bother to proof read this book.
However, nothing prepared me for the ending of this book which is so unbelievable that it would not even have been included as a story line in the X-Files. I won't give it away here, even though some other reviewers have, suffice to say that I find it highly ironic that the author cites Occam's Razor as a way of justifying her conclusion. Surely, as unlikely as it is that aliens have been able to cross the vast distances needed to reach planet Earth, this scenario is much more likely that the pathetic nonsense that she concocts!
This is without doubt one of the most disgraceful pieces of so-called journalism I have ever read. However I'm sure that the author does not care as she must be laughing all the way to the bank!
