3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap and does its job, but..., 20 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
So, this phone has both qualities and faults.
On the positive side:
- It's incredibly cheap: if you just need a phone to talk with someone, don't mind the quality but don't want to spend much, this is perfect.
- It's really nicely shaped, solid and compact, very easy to handle, and extremely light. You can toss it around quite a lot, and it won't break.
- Its battery charge lasts days and days - when you have it you almost forget that phones need to be charged.
- Its keybord is rather good, easy to use and with each button separated from the others (no rubbish rubber panels, like in other models, which make you press the wrong keys all the time).
- It has all the basic stuff you need on a phone, plus even a couple of decent - although rather addictive - games.

On the negative side:
- Its menus, and in particular SMS and list of contacts, take AGES to load, so texting is much slower than on other phones.
- Its memory is incredibly limited: if you don't delete every text after you've read it, you very soon find yourself with 'no space available for new SMS', and until you have deleted some of the old ones you can't receive the new ones. Moreover, when your 'sent messages' folder is full, every attempt to send a text yourself will result in a 'failed to send' message, until you delete some of the old ones.
- No fancy stuff: no camera, even a basic one, nor USB connection, so you can't personalise screen or ringtone beyond the limited range provided by Nokia.
- The back cover is incredibly hard to open when you want to (and it's even harder to pull out your SIM card once you've put it in), but - obviously when you don't need to - sometimes it slides open almost by itself.

Hi, thinking of getting one but not so sure now, after compiling a text on my current old Nokia I select 'options' then 'send' then 'search' and when contacts list appears can then enter first letter of recipients name (or first couple of letters) and select 'ok'. If this shortcut not available I'll stick to my old Nokia 1112. Would be grateful for your advice. Best regards.

Hi! When I used this phone I remember I always had this problem. When selecting 'search' there was the shortcut option, but pressing the keys you typed in numbers instead of letters, which was helpful only if one already knew the first couple of digits of the recipient's number. There may be a way to get round this (like you do when you change your T-9 options from 'digits' to 'letters'), but I never found it. What I did was always try and text people answering to one of their old texts/missed calls, or directly from their contact page. Hope this helps. Regards.

Hello again, have Nokia 100, no problems with it, perhaps yours was faulty or more likely settings not correct.
Text sending ok: options, send, search. Regards.

Not sure about the lack of memory 'negative' the reviewer describes as 'incredibly limited' ... it's 16th January and I've just had an inbox deleting session that has taken me back to 20th June! I may not be the world's most prolific texter or text-receiver, but that was quite a number of messages.
PS - have now discovered the 'delete messages' option ... LOL! That could have saved me a lot of time.
