Customer Review

on June 2, 2013
I was wary when I received this disc here in the U.S. All the show titles were already known to me from earlier BBC and EMI collections. For fans who know the episode "Dishonoured" only from the EMI Best of... albums, Vol.30 offers a rare treat - the original broadcast version.

The EMI LP was based on a "Vintage Goons" re-recording, and it is pretty damned funny, even abridged. In the version here, some of the jokes may be the same, but the energy is much higher and everyone is in top form.

As for the others, they are also rarities in that they consist of second performances on the same broadcast days. I have not yet compared the "Dreaded Batter Pudding Hurler" included here with the earlier released versions, but such exercises in Goon archaeology are what loving the show is all about.

So bring on Vol. 31 - pish-too!!
