Strange. I originally thought this album should've been called 'Kid B' as many of the electronic sounds resemble Radiohead's 1999 output. After one listen I had this down as a potential 0/5 album as there is just too much electronica and too many songs which pass by unnoticed or are noticable only for lacking structure and sounding terrible. However, after listening to this a few times I realised that there is a definite charm to some of the songs, not many, but some. This is provided by the soft synth sounds and, more prominently, by Ben Gibbard's lovely vocals. There is nothing here that people will be raving about in 30 years time, or even now for that matter, but there are some nice songs if you look carefully enough in amongst the barrage of beeps.
