Adding to the Bible
, 5 Jan. 2008
This review is from: The Everyday Life Bible (Hardcover)
It is incredibly depressing that yet another attempt to exploit the 'Christian' market is welcomed by so many Christians. Are we so sad in this country that we need Joyce Meyer to rewrite the Bible before it makes sense to us? Why would anyone need to read about Joyce's personal experiences in order to understand the Bible? In reality this book is saying that the Holy Spirit did not do a good enough job in inspiring the Scriptures and we need Joyce (and/or her advisers) to come along and give us a Bible that we can understand. As a edition to the Joyce Meyer publishing industry this will undoubtedly work. With its health and wealth me-centred distortion of the Bible it will not be a help to the Church or the Gospel of Jesus. And does the Bible itself not warn us about adding to or taking away from the Word of God? Stick with the real deal - Jesus Christ and His word, not Joyce Meyer and her reedited version.
