5.0 out of 5 stars Still remarkable drama Long May it Continue, 15 April 2014
This review is from: Endeavour - Series 2 [DVD] (DVD)
I am sure you watched this new series expecting more of the quality drama provided by Shaun Evans and company, and I was certainly not disappointed.

Actually the scripts and story lines are even more powerful and the acting continues to impress, making Endeavour a stand alone series able to hold its head high alongside Morse & Lewis

It's interesting and fun to see the man behind the idea Colin Dexter make his Alfred Hitcock style appearances in each episode as he has done in every single episode of Morse,Lewis and both Endeavour.

All I can say is long may this series continue, but due to the massive production costs I doubt it will become a long established series like Morse.

I really hope you're wrong, Mr Lewis. I'd be very disappointed if this series was halted after only a handful of series. It is superb, and expensive though it may be to produce, every penny is seen on the screen. Let's just keep hoping.

Its clear to see with the rather long interludes between each series that production costs for this magnificent series are extremely high.
I may be wrong but I very much doubt if Endeavour will be as long run as Lewis or Morse.
I do hope I am wrong but we shall wait and see.

I have a fairly clear recollection of it being said that each two-hour episode of the original Morse cost about a million pounds, and that must have been said twenty-odd years ago. Given the advance of time (and inflation) and the fact that Endeavour is set in the mid-1960s (i.e. a good deal of nearly fifty year-old authenticity required), goodness only knows how much each episode costs these days.

I too hope that you're wrong and that Endeavour continues, Sergeant - sorry, Mr Lewis.
