Johnny Nelson was a good boxer. Although he has an enduring reputation as somebody who punched above his weight in terms of career achievements, you can't take away the fact that he was a World Champion - and one who retained the belt on numerous occasions. So why the doubt? His fight against Carlos De Leon, where Nelson seemed to give up, has haunted him ever since. Nelson tries to explain in this book why that happened, although he still seems to struggle to understand why he acted like that. A lack of self belief followed him through his career which probably played a part. The descriptions of Nelson's relationships with Brendan Ingle, Herol Graham and Naseem Hamed are well written, as are many of the fights. Kept me interested throughout.
