This review is from: A Traitor to Memory: An Inspector Lynley Novel: 10 (Hardcover)
This book is really extraordinary! It uses a thriller rhythm and misterious developments of the story together with some very profound discussions of the individual. I think this book has worked out so well the treatment of a serious psychological discussion about father/son relationship, with the atmosphere of a crime/mystery novel. Elizabeth George shows here great literary maturity: she is ready to find herself a place amongst the great mystery writers. The only books which I could compare this one to would be some Barbara Vine titles. The only thing I can say against it is: I wouldn't have been so keen on keeping the Lynley-Havers as main characters. The book can outstand the others of the couple.
