Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Fruit of the Loom Super Premium T-Shirt - 21 Colours (Apparel)
I ordered 4 Fruit of the Loom Super Premium T-Shirts and they arrived within a couple of days but the first time I washed one, some stitching came loose and I now have a 20cm long open seam at the bottom.
I logged a request for a replacement and was abruptly told that they don't offer refunds or replacements once a t-shirt has been washed.
I wasn't even given the option to respond and my case was closed :-(
Surely a T-Shirt should cope with 1 wash in a washing machine?

From my experience there is nothing "Super Premium" about the T-Shirts or the service provided by Team South West Ltd.
I certainly won't be ordering from them again or recommending them to anyone.

I must add that I rarely post negative feedback but the level of service I received was so poor that I felt the need to share it.

Very disappointed

Sale of Goods Act 1979

Of satisfactory quality - this means that goods should meet a standard which a reasonable person would regard as being satisfactory, taking account of any description applied to them, the price (if relevant) and all other relevant circumstances. Satisfactory quality also includes the appearance and finish of the goods, their safety and durability and whether they are free from minor faults.

Based on the law you are entitled to a repair or replacement but not refund.

BirdmanC says:
You should also add that any postage costs involved MUST be borne by the seller - legal fact.

Send the shirt back, recorded delivery if they object. If that gives you no satisfaction or more problems, threaten with Small Claims Court action. If that does not work, issue a small claim - it will cost you nothing ultimately. If that does not get them to sort it out, or meet you in Court, the Court will find in your favour. If they still don't play ball, get the bailiffs in. Sounds extreme, but it is all your legal right - been there, done that.

I am also surprised that Amazon have not sorted this one out for you. Have you raised the issue with Amazon?

Mr. D. Ryan says:
Under the sale of goods act the product has to be fit for the purpose it was intended, I think you have good grounds to DEMAND a replacement or a full refund, if you are refused then use the small claims court and also claim costs.

Nice of you to mention the seller "Team South West Ltd" by name.
I will definitely steer clear of them.

Man, don't we just roll over and take it in this country. Heed the advice of the other commenters.

I appreciate all the advice given and had the item been worth more than the £3 I paid I would have taken it further. I posted the feedback purely to show people an example of poor customer service. The cost was irrelevant in this case.

Nicodemus says:
Rather than the hassle of small claims court, I would suggest a complaint to the Trading Standards dept of your local council (mentioning Sale of Goods Act). It's their job to tackle sellers who try to wriggle out of their legal obligations - so no hassle for them to deal with it. Actually most sellers cave in as soon as they realise customer knows their legal rights. Hopefully one day it will be illegal for sellers to mislead customers about the law!

I know a guy, Big Vinnie, lets just say he'll make this slightly frayed t shirt problem 'go away' for 50 large.
