3.0 out of 5 stars Not really the wolfenstein that you know., 3 Jun. 2014
This review is from: Wolfenstein: The New Order (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
I am a huge fan of quake, doom, wolfenstein, have been since my big brothers introduced me to it as a kid. I bought the last wolfenstein and played it far too many times so was really pleased to see that they were going to bring this one out.

I don't like it.. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad game, but it doesn't resemble the original at all, it the same as many other shooting games out there.

Only been playing for a while, but there's no nazi's saying 'mein leben' when you kill em, no hidden places/secrets (unless I've missed em all!) and none of the original charm. The game so far is just shooting with many many cinema cuts telling a story. If you like that kind of take your brain out FPS with good graphics, then great, it's perfect. If you like the old school games then perhaps you may be a little disappointed like me.

I can understand some ppl might not like the game for various reasons but Id like to say its not linear at all, theres a lot of secrets dotted around the levels like treasures and letters etc, the fact there's 2 different paths to go in the levels adds to replay value.

Yeah, I found those later on when I played a bit more, cheers! Don't get me wrong, it's a good game, it's just not what I was expecting. The old games, esp with doom & quake (which I would say are all very similar) let you explore the surroundings more, climb up things, found hidden rooms etc, these were more interesting. I can't even damage a dead nazi!! And I must say, I think it IS linear. You can't go anywhere other than how the game dictates.
